Asking because I think it is definitely not common knowledge that this is the case. I’ve never heard about the concept of old commonwealth citizens being able to vote in UK elections. Although, when I read the official govt docs on “who can vote” (https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-8985/) it does say “be either a British citizen, a qualifying Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of the Republic of Ireland “ - but there is no link to a definition of what a “qualifying Commonwealth citizen” is - where would one go about finding that definition? Is it clearly stipulated in some govt doc somewhere? Do you know?
Anyway - I’m a software engineer with nearly 2 decades under my belt. Do you have any ideas on how I might be able to get involved in pushing the discourse using my skill set whilst at the same time get paid to do so?
Hello Connor, good to see you are still keeping active, the leave from Lotus Eaters seemed fairly out of the blue. Have you explained why you chose to leave anywhere? - Ha, never mind that, I just read your post here which said as much! I had just signed up for this substack via your video posted on YouTube where it wasn't made as clear
Connor, did I hear you right, that commonwealth citizens can vote (in British general elections) even if they are not British citizens?
